Open year round, the Northwoods Children?s Museum (NCM) is a hands-on play museum offering 22 interactive exhibits in which children can experiment with various roles, understand aspects of history, develop skills and creativity, and learn science and math concepts. Our playful exhibits and programs build confidence and encourage children to connect with the people and places that make up their world. As a Northwoods community resource, the museum has a mission to enrich lives, support families and to encourage a love of learning through interactive play.
The museum exhibits include a Bubble Station, Medical Center, Old Time Grocery Store, Modern Grocery Store, Pioneer Cabin, Fishing Pond, Grandma?s Attic, Fire Tower, Reading Tree and much, much more. One area features changing exhibits throughout the year to add interest and highlight seasonal themes, such as our Fresh From the Farm in May and mini cranberry bog in October. Other changing exhibits include the Badger Mine, Around the World, the science-based Sky and Space and an ethnic Christmas theme in December.
NCM is a member of the Association of Children?s Museums (ACM), and members of other ACM museums with approved reciprocal membership programs are admitted free.
The museum also includes a Discovery Store that carries a wide variety of educational toys for various ages along with science and craft kits, books, games and puzzles. Products are ordered regularly and new items are introduced frequently.
