Fishing in Land O' Lakes!

Fishing Report for Week of April 15, 2018

April 17, 2018 ·

April showers may bring May flowers, but I’m pretty sure this recent snowfall wasn’t what Mother Nature really meant.  The deep snow continues to make travel difficult without a track machine and with the temperatures predicted to keep rising again during the day it will knock the snow down.  Keep in mind that the depth of ice varies greatly depending on the body of water.  It ranges from open flowing water on the river to several feet of ice on some area lakes.  With all the extra snow, keep in mind that you’ll probably need your extension put on your auger to get through the deep snow and thick ice.

Panfish: Bluegills are being found in the shallow green weeds using small jigs tipped with waxies, spikes or tipped with plastic.  Perch are being caught on the deeper green weed edge. With the warm warmer temperatures, Crappies are starting to move into the shallows.

Happy fishing!  Selective harvest is the way to go.   Colin Crawford's Guide Service, crawfordfishing@gmail.com (715)891-2715.  Website is www.crawfordfishing.com or you can also find Phelps Outdoors on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. NPAA #94.
