Fishing in Land O' Lakes!

Holy Heatwave

May 29, 2018 ·

It is hard to believe three weeks ago we still had ice on some of the lakes here in the north country. With these water temps rising fast a lot of things are happening in the water. Weeds are growing, all fish are moving, some bugs are hatching; all sorts of neat things.

Northern Pike:  Fish are being caught while jigging weeds and by throwing spinnerbaits and spoons.

Walleye: This week, I caught fish a couple of different ways, jig and minnow are still working, jig and plastic tails various types, and slip bobber rigs are all producing. I got fish on weed lines and out on the mud flats.

Panfish:  Perch are still being caught on jigs and slip bobber rigs alike. Crappies have started spawning and should be finished shortly. Bluegills are moving into the shallows and can be caught slip bobbering.

Happy fishing!  Selective harvest is the way to go.  Colin Crawford's Guide Service, crawfordfishing@gmail.com (715)891-2715.  Website is www.crawfordfishing.com or you can also find Phelps Outdoors on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
